This due diligence involves mapping their supply chains down to raw material suppliers, identifying and mitigating environmental risks, and reporting on their efforts, including greenhouse gas emissions and wastewater management, in a publicly available report. The bill also establishes a "fashion remediation fund" to be used for environmental benefit or remediation projects that directly help workers and communities impacted by environmental harm, funded by civil penalties assessed against non-compliant fashion sellers. The Attorney General will oversee enforcement, and the Department of State will develop regulations and accredit verification bodies to ensure compliance.
