This resolution, passed by the Tennessee House of Representatives, formally honors and commends the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program (TSCTP) as it celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary. The TSCTP, managed by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation since 2001, has provided thousands of Tennessee youth with opportunities to participate in shooting sports like trap, skeet, and sporting clays, emphasizing safe firearm handling, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork. The program has grown significantly, becoming one of the largest of its kind nationally, serving approximately 214,000 athletes on 112 teams and engaging over 1,300 volunteer coaches who receive structured training and safety programs. The TSCTP is recognized for creating long-term engagement for athletes, many of whom continue to participate and mentor even after graduation, and for its athletes' success at the national level, with numerous top finishes and championship titles, solidifying Tennessee's position as a top-performing state in the program's history.
