This resolution commends and congratulates Lauren Milam for receiving the Dennis Washington Leadership Graduate Scholarship, a prestigious award funded by the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation in partnership with the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. This organization honors individuals who have overcome adversity and supports their education. The scholarship, which can provide up to $250,000 for graduate study, is highly competitive and is awarded to exceptional students with leadership potential who demonstrate academic excellence, integrity, perseverance, and a commitment to entrepreneurship and community service. Lauren Milam, a native of Waynesboro and an alumna of the University of Tennessee at Martin, is pursuing an MD/MBA at East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine and was selected as one of only five students nationwide to receive this honor for 2026, bringing pride to her state and community.
