This joint resolution honors and commends the members of the 196th Field Artillery Brigade Embedded Training Team (ETT 4.0) for their distinguished service in Afghanistan from July 2005 to July 2006. ETT 4.0, comprised of over one hundred soldiers, was deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, a significant period for the nation. Under Colonel Joe C. Geren's leadership, these soldiers were integrated with units of the Afghan National Army, providing essential training, mentorship, and leadership development to help build a capable and self-sufficient Afghan security force. Their mission required not only military expertise but also adaptability, cultural understanding, and resilience in challenging and dangerous conditions. The team also supported Afghanistan's first free and fair democratic elections, contributing to the advancement of liberty and the rule of law, and assisted in provincial reconstruction efforts to improve infrastructure and stability for the Afghan people. The resolution also acknowledges the sacrifices of the soldiers' families and expresses gratitude for their courage, dedication, and contributions to global security and freedom, noting that a reunion is planned for April 18, 2026.
