The goal is to address notary shortages in rural areas and facilitate commerce, recognizing that technology has advanced since the original act was passed and that other jurisdictions already allow remote notarization for such documents. The Law Institute is also asked to include representatives from various state associations in its study and to report its findings and any proposed legislation to the Louisiana Legislature by March 1, 2027.
