This resolution, a formal expression of opinion from the Tennessee House of Representatives and Senate, honors and commends CodeCrew of Memphis for its significant achievements in computer science education and opportunity expansion across Tennessee. Since its founding in 2015, CodeCrew, a nonprofit organization, has provided vital computer science and technology skills to over 15,000 students and adults through various programs, including in-school and after-school classes, summer camps, internships, and workforce development. The organization prioritizes equity, specifically reaching out to Black and Latino youth and young women, who are historically underrepresented in the tech industry, to ensure they have access to opportunities in the digital economy. CodeCrew offers hands-on training in areas like mobile and web app development, game design, robotics, drone programming, and artificial intelligence, empowering participants to become creators and leaders. Their Code School program also offers intensive training for adults, equipping them with software development skills for meaningful employment and strengthening communities. By fostering creativity, critical thinking, and economic mobility, CodeCrew is building a more resilient workforce and keeping Tennessee competitive in the 21st-century economy, serving as a model for community investment in young people's potential.
