This Joint Resolution formally honors the memory of sixteen workers who tragically died in a catastrophic explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems (AES) facility on October 10, 2025, an event that also injured seven others and is considered one of the deadliest industrial disasters in recent U.S. history. The resolution acknowledges these individuals not as statistics but as beloved family members and community members from Humphreys and Hickman counties, emphasizing that their lives were lost due to preventable circumstances, as investigations by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA) revealed numerous willful and serious safety violations, leading to the highest workplace safety penalties in the state's history. In recognition of Workers Memorial Day, observed annually on April 28th to remember those lost and advocate for safer workplaces, this resolution extends the deepest condolences of the Tennessee House of Representatives and Senate to the victims' families and their communities, and directs that an appropriate copy be prepared for presentation.
