This bill, amending the Stille-DeRossett-Hale single state construction code act, establishes procedures for modifying building permits after they have been issued by the department, which is the state agency responsible for overseeing construction codes. Specifically, if a permit holder requests changes to an existing building permit, the department can impose additional changes but only under strict conditions: these new requirements must be directly related to the requested changes, cannot revisit parts of the permit already approved, and the department must notify the permit holder of any requested changes within 10 days of receiving the initial request, after which no further changes can be demanded. Importantly, requesting these modifications will not cause the permit application process to restart. This bill is contingent on the enactment of another bill, House Bill No. 5933.
