This bill amends the veterans' services law to significantly increase the state's goal for awarding contracts to businesses owned by service-disabled veterans, raising the target from six percent to twenty percent of the total value of state contracts. A "service-disabled veteran-owned business enterprise" refers to a business that is at least fifty-one percent owned by one or more service-disabled veterans, or in the case of a publicly owned business, at least fifty-one percent of its stock is owned by one or more service-disabled veterans, and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more service-disabled veterans. This change aims to provide greater opportunities for these businesses to participate in state contracting.
