This Joint Resolution honors and commends the past and present members of the Collierville Contemporary Club on the occasion of the organization's ninetieth anniversary, celebrating nearly a century of community service and civic dedication in Tennessee (known as the "Volunteer State"). Founded in 1936 originally as a literary club focusing on Southern literature, the club expanded its mission over the decades to support a wide array of charitable, educational, and historical preservation efforts. Throughout its history, the club has contributed to numerous causes—such as assisting local schools, supporting the Red Cross during wartime efforts, helping establish the town library, preserving historic local landmarks like the Old Log Cabin and a red railroad caboose, and currently backing various community groups including the Collierville Food Pantry, the animal shelter, and early childhood literacy programs. By officially adopting this resolution, the Tennessee General Assembly recognizes the club's profound, long-lasting impact on the local community and extends its best wishes for the organization's continued success.
