This bill expands the scope of "collaborative drug therapy management" (CDTM), which allows pharmacists to work with physicians to manage a patient's drug therapy, by including physician practices and facilities licensed under specific sections of the mental hygiene law as eligible "facilities" for CDTM, in addition to hospitals and nursing homes. It also clarifies that patient consent for CDTM can be obtained through the same general process used for other healthcare services. Crucially, this bill makes permanent certain provisions that were set to expire, ensuring that pharmacists can continue to perform CDTM with physicians in these expanded settings without a sunset date.
