This bill amends Delaware law to ensure that Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), who are advanced practice registered nurses licensed to provide anesthesia services, are reimbursed by health insurers and other similar entities at a rate comparable to licensed physicians for the same services. Specifically, it mandates that health insurance policies, contracts, and certificates delivered, issued, renewed, extended, or modified in Delaware must provide reimbursement for services a CRNA is licensed to perform at a rate no less than what is paid to physicians for those same services. This applies to various entities including health insurers, health service corporations, health maintenance organizations, state employee health plans, and other carriers. The bill also clarifies that these entities can still establish different reimbursement rates based on quality or performance measures, and these new provisions will take effect for policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered, amended, or reissued after December 31, 2026.
