This bill, titled the "Harry Lew and Danny Chen Military Justice Reform Act," directs the Secretary of Defense to study whether it is practical and wise to create a new, specific criminal offense for hazing within the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), which is the set of laws governing the conduct of military personnel. As part of this study, the Secretary must also propose a clear definition of what constitutes "hazing" for the purposes of this potential new law. The Secretary is required to complete this analysis and submit a report detailing their findings and recommendations to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees within 180 days of the bill becoming law.
