This bill mandates that the Commissioner of Education, who is the state's chief education official, must annually suggest specific dates for spring break for all school districts. While school districts are not strictly required to follow these recommendations, they must consider them when deciding their own spring break schedules. To help school districts plan their academic calendars effectively, the Commissioner is required to communicate these recommended spring break dates to them by June 30th of the year preceding the school year in which the break will occur.
