This bill mandates that food retail establishments, defined as supermarkets, grocery stores, or other food retailers, must provide a ten percent discount on all goods purchased by a customer using a self-service checkout kiosk, which is an automated process allowing customers to scan, bag, and pay for items without human assistance. The bill also outlines that if a food retail establishment fails to comply with this requirement, the Attorney General can seek an injunction to stop the violation and may also seek restitution for any affected customers. This new law will become effective ninety days after it is enacted.
