Importantly, the bill exempts fees for serving documents related to extreme risk protection orders and personal protection orders, aligning with federal requirements to ensure victims of domestic violence can access protection without incurring service costs, though law enforcement agencies may still be reimbursed up to $50.00 from a specific fund for serving these protection orders. The "Revised Judicature Act of 1961" is the existing law being amended by this bill.
