The bill also prohibits federal support for mortgages on properties located in such municipalities, impacting loans insured or guaranteed by agencies like the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Department of Agriculture, as well as loans purchased or securitized by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Municipalities can regain eligibility for these funds and support by taking corrective actions to address squatting, and the Secretary will publicly list prohibited jurisdictions.
