This bill, titled the Combat Pay Protection Act, aims to ensure that certain special and incentive pays for members of the Armed Forces are adjusted to keep pace with economic changes and are not limited by existing law. Specifically, it mandates a one-time corrective increase to these pays, effective January 1st of the year following the bill's enactment, calculated based on the greater of the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for urban consumers or the percentage increase in the average basic pay for service members, compared to the last time these specific pays were officially adjusted.
