This bill directs the Secretary of Defense to establish the Senator Robert J. Dole Greatest Generation Education Program, a comprehensive educational initiative aimed at increasing public awareness and understanding of the achievements and sacrifices of the Greatest Generation during World War II. The program's goals include fostering unity between generations, instilling patriotism in young people by sharing stories of courage and sacrifice, and demonstrating how national unity can overcome challenges. To achieve these aims, the Secretary is authorized to award grants to state and local governments, and to nonprofit organizations (defined as organizations recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code), for educational activities that honor World War II veterans, educate the public about wartime contributions from various groups including the home front, remember the Holocaust and its victims, engage young people in learning about the war, and support programming at significant historical sites like the National World War II Memorial. State governments receiving grants are restricted to using them for new initiatives and cannot fund existing secondary education programs. The Secretary of Defense will hold exclusive rights to the program's name and associated symbols.
