To ensure the Army stays ahead technologically, the initiative is tasked with identifying practical military uses for quantum computing—which utilizes subatomic particles to process complex information at unprecedented speeds—as well as quantum sensing, networking, and quantum-enabled artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the measure requires the initiative to assess necessary infrastructure and cybersecurity needs, streamline how the military acquires these advanced technologies, build partnerships with universities and private industry, and develop specialized workforce strategies. Finally, the bill authorizes the Secretary to run pilot demonstration projects to test these advanced systems and mandates that a comprehensive report detailing the Army's quantum readiness requirements, infrastructure needs, and legislative recommendations be submitted to congressional defense committees within 270 days of the act's passage.
