This bill, titled the Veteran Technology Employment Success Act of 2026, updates how the Department of Veterans Affairs measures the job success of participants in the VET TEC (Veterans Employment Through Technology Education Courses) program, which provides veterans with high-tech training and skills. Specifically, the legislation refines the formula for calculating graduates' employment rates by taking the total number of program graduates who successfully finished during a given year as the denominator, and the number of those graduates who are employed 180 days later as the numerator. To ensure these job placement numbers are genuine and independent, the bill explicitly prohibits counting graduates who are hired by their training provider, or by a parent or affiliated company, to work as instructors for substantially similar educational programs. Furthermore, the legislation requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to report these detailed employment rates—broken down by full-time, part-time, and self-employment to the maximum extent practicable—and to make these operational reports publicly available alongside submitting them to congressional committees. Finally, the bill directs the VA to continuously collect and analyze participant feedback, as well as data from the GI Bill School Feedback Tool or its replacement, to actively evaluate and improve the program's overall performance.
