This bill, the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act Reauthorization of 2013, revises and extends provisions related to suicide prevention. It establishes a Suicide Prevention Technical Assistance Center, which will be a resource for states, tribes, educational institutions, and other organizations to provide information, training, and technical assistance on suicide prevention for all ages, with a particular focus on high-risk groups. Additionally, it amends provisions for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Services and Outreach on Campus, authorizing grants to institutions of higher education to enhance services for students with mental health or substance use disorders, including prevention, screening, early intervention, and treatment, and to develop best practices for service delivery.
