This Resolution expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia should actively participate in the United Nations process with Greece to resolve a long-standing dispute over its name. The goal is to find a mutually agreeable official name, which includes a geographical qualifier and is to be used in all contexts, aligning with United States and United Nations policy objectives. Additionally, the resolution urges the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to cease any hostile activities and refrain from violating the terms of the Interim Agreement, a pact brokered by the UN between it and Greece concerning such actions and propaganda. The resolution also calls on the U.S. government to collaborate with its North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies to extend an invitation to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia for membership once a resolution to the name issue is achieved through the UN framework.
