This bill amends Florida law to provide exemptions from lease fees for certain individuals and entities leasing sovereignty submerged lands, which are lands owned by the state underwater. Specifically, it exempts lessees of sovereignty submerged land used for private residential single-family docks designed to moor up to two boats, and those with shared docks between two residences designed for up to four boats, from paying lease fees for a certain area. This exempted area is defined as either 10 times the length of the property's shoreline touching the water (riparian shoreline) or the maximum square footage allowed by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund for private docks, whichever is larger. Additionally, lessees of sovereignty submerged land for private residential multifamily docks, which can moor boats for each unit in the development, are also exempt from lease fees for an area calculated as 10 times the riparian shoreline multiplied by the number of units in the development. These changes aim to reduce the financial burden on individuals and developers using these submerged lands for private dock purposes.
