This bill amends Chapter 112 of the Massachusetts General Laws to provide protection from medical malpractice liability for certain health professionals. Specifically, it states that physicians, physician assistants, and nurses administering immunizations or other public health programs will not be held liable in civil lawsuits for damages arising from their actions or inactions while performing these duties. Furthermore, it extends this protection to these professionals who are registered with the Massachusetts System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals, or its successor, for any acts or omissions related to their voluntary participation in disaster preparedness or response activities. This means that if a registered volunteer health professional acts or fails to act while assisting during a disaster, they will be shielded from civil lawsuits seeking damages.
