This bill modifies Florida's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, which is a system used to track controlled substance prescriptions to help prevent drug abuse and diversion. Specifically, it reduces the timeframe within which dispensers, such as pharmacies, must report dispensed controlled substances to the Department of Health (DOH) from an unspecified period to no more than two days after dispensing, unless an extension is granted. Additionally, the bill removes a prohibition that prevented the program from using funds provided, directly or indirectly, by prescription drug manufacturers, thereby allowing for such funding to be utilized for the program's implementation and administration.
