This bill mandates that all physicians and physician assistants practicing in the Commonwealth must complete a one-hour online course on the early recognition of eating disorders by July 1, 2014, and attest to this training when renewing their licenses. The course, developed in consultation with the department of health and human services, will cover physical, emotional, and behavioral indicators of eating disorders. Exemptions will be granted to those whose practice demonstrably does not require such training. Furthermore, hospitals and facilities are prohibited from granting or renewing professional privileges or associations for any physician or physician assistant who has not completed this required training.
