This bill proposes to amend Chapter 90 of the Massachusetts General Laws to allow for the creation of special distinctive firefighter motorcycle license plates. These plates would be available to current members of any municipal fire department or those retired in good standing, for use on their privately owned motorcycles. To obtain one of these plates, applicants must be certified by their fire department chief, and in addition to the standard registration fee, there will be an extra ten-dollar charge for issuance and renewal. This additional fee will be collected by the registrar and then transferred to the Massachusetts Firefighters Academy Trust Fund, which supports training and development for firefighters.
