This bill amends existing law to address situations where traffic signals fail to detect motorcycles, a common issue due to the size of motorcycles compared to cars. Specifically, it allows a motorcycle operator approaching an intersection with a traffic-control signal that uses a vehicle detection device (a system designed to sense the presence of vehicles) which is not working because of the motorcycle's size, to come to a complete stop and then proceed with caution when it is safe to do so, after exercising due care as required by law. This provision aims to improve motorcycle safety by providing a clear course of action when standard traffic signal technology fails to recognize them, preventing motorcyclists from being stuck indefinitely at an intersection.
