This bill proposes to amend Massachusetts General Laws, chapter 90, section 2E, which deals with vehicle registration plates, to allow for the creation of distinctive license plates that display a design supporting autism. For owners of private passenger vehicles who wish to obtain these special plates, there will be an additional fee of at least forty dollars, payable at the time of registration and at each renewal, on top of the standard registration fee. Importantly, after covering the direct costs associated with producing and issuing these autism support plates, the remaining portion of this additional fee will be deposited into a dedicated "Autism Trust Fund" within ninety days of collection, indicating that the funds generated are intended to support autism-related initiatives.
