This bill establishes a hemophilia advisory committee to review administrative actions and legislation concerning the treatment and care of individuals with hemophilia, which is a bleeding disorder, and other inherited bleeding and clotting disorders. The committee will consist of 11 members, including non-voting co-chairs from the departments of public health and insurance, and will make recommendations to these commissioners on various aspects of care, such as legislative changes, public awareness programs, standards of care, access to treatment and insurance, and the development of care programs. The bill also mandates that the commissioner of public health, in consultation with the commissioner of insurance, will annually report to legislative committees and state officials on the status of care and treatment for these disorders, with the initial report due by December 31, 2014.
