This bill requires individuals who become residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and operate a motor vehicle or trailer to register that vehicle or trailer within 90 days of establishing residency, with violations punishable by a fine of at least $100, and half of the collected fines going to the municipality where the violation occurred. Additionally, the bill mandates that any motor vehicle or trailer operated in the Commonwealth for more than 90 days in total within a year, by an owner who qualifies as a resident, must also be registered according to the chapter, with violations of this provision resulting in a fine of up to $100, and again, half of the revenue from these fines being retained by the municipality.
