This bill amends Chapter 12A of the General Laws by adding the chairs of the Senate and House Committees on Post Audit and Oversight to the list of individuals associated with the state comptroller, and it establishes a new section that designates these same committees as advisory councils to the Inspector General. These advisory councils will have the authority to independently or jointly recommend agencies or programs for audit or investigation by the Inspector General, and they can also request the Inspector General's assistance in their own legislative audits or investigations.
