This bill requires governmental entities, including state agencies, county officials, school boards, and city councils, to specify lumber, timber, and other forest products produced and manufactured in Florida for public construction projects, provided these materials are available and equal in price, fitness, and quality, with certain exceptions for plywood used in concrete forms, situations where native species cannot meet structural needs, projects funded by federal money with no restrictions, and transportation projects using federal aid. Additionally, state agencies are mandated to adopt and use a sustainable building rating system or a national model green building code for all new construction and renovations of existing buildings.
