The bill then outlines penalties for carrying these weapons, including a prison sentence of up to 5 years or a fine of up to $1,000. It also specifies mandatory minimum prison sentences for individuals with prior felony convictions who violate these provisions, and significantly harsher penalties, including mandatory minimums of 2.5 years in state prison, for those who possess these weapons while committing a felony. Exceptions are made for law enforcement officers, military personnel, and authorized suppliers acting within their official duties.
