This bill amends existing Massachusetts law concerning the storage of personal property removed from land or tenements in possession of land or tenement cases, which are legal actions to regain possession of property. Specifically, it clarifies that a "licensed public warehouser," meaning a business licensed and bonded under a specific state law (chapter 105, section 1), and any other storage facility chosen by the defendant, must be located within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and within a 20-mile radius of the property from which the items were removed. If no licensed public warehouse is available within that 20-mile radius, the officer responsible for removing the property must store it in the closest available licensed public warehouse.
