This bill, also known as the CAMPUS Safety Act of 2013, establishes and authorizes the Attorney General to operate a National Center for Campus Public Safety. The Center will also coordinate with various government agencies and private organizations to develop strategies for preventing and responding to dangerous situations on campuses, promote behavioral threat assessment models, and identify available resources. Furthermore, the bill mandates that the Center report annually to Congress on its activities and the effectiveness of any grants it distributes, ensuring coordination with existing programs to avoid duplication. Importantly, the bill clarifies that public elementary and secondary schools can still benefit from the informational and training resources provided by this Center.
