This bill proposes to amend Chapter 266 of the General Laws to establish new penalties for the theft of motor vehicle fuel, which is defined in Section 295 A of Chapter 94 of the General Laws. For a first offense of stealing motor fuel, the offender will face a fine of at least $100, and the court will immediately report the conviction to the registrar of motor vehicles, who will then revoke the offender's driver's license or right to operate a vehicle for at least one month, regardless of any appeals or motions. For a second offense, the fine will be at least $200, and the revocation of the driver's license or right to operate will be for at least two months, also irrespective of any appeals.
