This bill prohibits used tire retailers in Florida from selling unsafe used tires for use on vehicles, with an exception for tires sold for recapping. An unsafe used tire is defined as one that is worn down to 2/32 of an inch of tread depth or less, has damage exposing its internal reinforcing layers (like cuts, cracks, or bulges), has been improperly repaired (such as repairs in the sidewall or bead area, or punctures larger than one-quarter of an inch), shows signs of temporary sealant without a proper repair, has a defaced or removed identification number, or has damage to its inner liner or bead, or internal separation. Violating this law is considered an unfair and deceptive trade practice under Florida law, which is a legal term for business practices that mislead or harm consumers.
