This bill amends Chapter 93 of the General Laws by adding a new section that requires contracts for renting halls or rooms for events to include a clear and conspicuous written provision allowing consumers or lessees to cancel their contract within 30 days of receiving notice that the facility's ownership or management is changing. The facility owner or manager must immediately notify all consumers or lessees in writing by first-class mail about any ownership change, and the consumer or lessee then has 30 days from receiving this notice to cancel their event booking without penalty. Any money paid by the consumer or lessee must be refunded within 15 business days of their cancellation notice, and the contract will be void. Violating this section will result in a fine of $50 per day.
