This bill, titled the Restoring Storey County Act, directs the Secretary of the Interior, through the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), to transfer all surface rights of approximately 1,745 acres of federal land in Storey County, Nevada, to the county itself, including any existing improvements on the land. This action is intended to resolve confusing and conflicting ownership claims that have led to difficulties in managing the land and created friction between the federal government and local residents, some of whom have occupied the land for decades through documented transactions. The BLM will be responsible for all costs associated with this transfer, and the conveyance will not be considered a major federal action under the National Environmental Policy Act, nor will the National Historic Preservation Act apply to the transfer or the property.
