This bill amends Chapter 93A of the General Laws to prohibit unauthorized radio transmissions and interference with public or commercial radio stations licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is the U.S. agency responsible for regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable. Specifically, it makes it illegal for anyone to transmit radio signals within the state without an FCC license or exemption, or to intentionally cause interference with licensed radio stations. Individuals harmed by such actions can sue in district or superior court to seek monetary damages, which could be doubled or tripled, as well as legal fees and costs, and can also request court orders to stop the illegal activity (injunctive relief) and the seizure of property used in the violation (forfeiture), though this forfeiture would not affect existing secured loans on the property.
