This bill expands sales and use tax exemptions for agricultural producers, defining a "qualified agricultural producer" as someone meeting specific income or land assessment criteria, and allowing them to apply for an exemption certificate from the Department of Revenue (DOR). It clarifies that participation in certain water retention programs can be considered a non-income-producing use of land for tax assessment purposes, and exempts diesel fuel and farm equipment used by qualified agricultural producers from sales and use tax. Additionally, the bill exempts various items used in agricultural production, such as certain nets, gas or electricity for agricultural purposes, growth or performance enhancers for cattle, and feeds for poultry, ostriches, and livestock, when used by a qualified agricultural producer.
