This bill mandates that the Secretary of the Interior, through the Bureau of Land Management, transfer approximately 420 acres of public land located within the Camp Williams military reservation in Utah to the State of Utah, without any cost. This land transfer is intended to enhance the training and readiness capabilities of the Utah National Guard for national defense purposes. The bill also overrides Executive Order No. 1922, which previously affected these lands, but only to the extent it pertains to the specific acreage being conveyed. Importantly, the conveyed land will revert back to the United States if the Secretary of Defense determines it is sold or used for purposes other than those of the National Guard or national defense. However, if the Secretary of Defense finds hazardous materials on the land subject to reversion, the State of Utah will pay the fair market value of that portion, and the reversionary interest will not apply to it.
