AI Summary

This bill expands existing laws against extortion to specifically include the act of demanding sexually explicit or nude images, videos, or other visual representations of a person through threats. Previously, extortion laws covered demands for money, property, labor, services, or anything of value. Now, a person who verbally threatens to cause harm, emotional distress, economic damage, or property damage with the intent to extort such explicit images is committing a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a $10,000 fine. Similarly, knowingly sending or delivering a written threat to achieve the same goal, which includes demands for explicit images, is also classified as a felony with the same penalties. This legislation aims to provide stronger legal recourse against individuals who use threats to obtain intimate visual content from others.
