This bill amends the Illinois Transparency and Accountability Portal (ITAP) law to require the ITAP to provide direct access to a searchable database of all taxing bodies in the State, which are entities that have the power to levy taxes, such as school districts, park districts, and fire protection districts. This new database will allow users to sort taxing bodies by their name, their bonded indebtedness (money borrowed by issuing bonds), and other types of debt. The bill also makes technical changes to existing provisions regarding the effective dates for data collection and reporting for local government employees and makes the changes effective immediately upon becoming law.
