This bill modifies existing Florida law regarding charter schools by authorizing contract disputes, after mediation attempts or if mediation is bypassed, to be immediately sent to an administrative law judge appointed by the Division of Administrative Hearings for a summary final order, with the judge having final authority on certain issues like equitable treatment and flexibility violations, and also requires charter schools to request, but not mandate, that withdrawing students or their parents complete a survey about their reasons for leaving, and mandates that charter schools annually report to their sponsor and the Department of Education the number of students leaving and the reasons for their departure.
