This bill, titled the "School Bus Safety and Child Protection Act," mandates periodic criminal background checks for certain school employees, specifically school bus drivers and aides, requiring these checks every five years to ensure they do not have disqualifying criminal history record information. It also makes it a crime of the fourth degree to intentionally tamper with or disable cameras or other monitoring devices installed on school buses, and requires school districts with cameras on buses to randomly review recorded images throughout the school year to enhance safety. Furthermore, if an employee is found guilty of certain crimes or offenses after a pending charge is adjudicated, they will be terminated from employment, and if charges are pending, they will be suspended until the charge is resolved.
