This bill mandates that the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission, a body established to review military pay and benefits, conduct an anonymous survey of randomly selected members of the Armed Forces to understand their preferences regarding various aspects of their compensation and benefits. The survey will aim to determine how service members value different components like basic pay, housing and food allowances, bonuses, and healthcare and retirement benefits, including the impact of costs like co-payments. The Commission will also explore how these preferences vary based on factors such as age, rank, and family status. Upon completion, the Commission must submit a report containing the analysis and raw data to both the Secretary of Defense and Congress, and simultaneously make this report publicly available. Additionally, the bill amends existing law to explicitly include the examination of this survey's data as a function of the Commission.
