This bill eliminates the requirement for businesses to collect and record the name, address, and at least the zip code of consumers who purchase certain gift cards, also known as stored value cards, before the state claims any unredeemed value after five years of inactivity. This change is intended to relieve businesses of this data collection responsibility, which was set to go into effect in July 2016, by removing it from the law ahead of its implementation.
